Hearing that same voice, she turned around, books hugged tightly against her chest “excuse me? It just sounded like you were, I didn’t mean to drop the books on you. I lost my grip, I’m sorry.” she said all in one breath, hoping he had caught what she said. She gazed at him, for a second, thinking that his eyes resembled somewhat of a panda, and found it cute.

He had forgotten it had been quite sometime since he had spoken to humans - and how they smelled so decadent. Preoccupied with the scent of her mortality, he was at loss for words, staring back. He threw his shoulders back, straightening his posture, feeling all the more conscious when she stared more than he did. For a second into that silent conversation, he considered compelling her into telling her thoughts. Instead, he glanced furtively on his shirt, on his collar in particular, if he had some blood stains yet again. He swallowed hard before deciding to break the silence, lip twitching into an uncomfortable smile, a polite one but no less sincere. “Is something wrong?”

“It was an accident, no need to be rude” she mumbled under her breath, hoping he didn’t hear how frustrated she was. She didn’t need someone’s attitude, since she hadn’t done anything wrong. Shaking her head, she walked away from him and towards the counter ready to get the books checked out.

His eyes picked up from the last title on the shelf, however, he caught on her apparent dislike for the way he responded. A frown drew itself on his face while he opened his mouth to speak, but quickly, his lips were pressed together. His glance returns to her direction, following as she walked further away only to stop by the counter. If this were any other day, he would have brushed it off, seeing, however, that it was uneventful, a little socialization will be entertaining. His tongue poked lightly into his cheek as he inhaled a long breath, mindlessly grabbing a book from the shelf and tracing her steps. “I was not being rude.” He whispers, adopting a challenging tone.

Inside the book store there stood a young lady with her brows furrowed as she couldn’t find the book she was searching for, “where is that damn book. I need it by tomorrow” she mumbled to herself, hands full of other textbooks, she suddenly lost her grip, causing the books to fall to a ground with her groaning. Bending down to pick up the books, she noticed another hand. Looking up, she saw an unfamiliar figure helping her, pick up her books “thanks” she whispered

Fingertips gliding over the book spines, lined perfectly secure on the shelves. A book store was the last place one would expect to see a man like himself, he looked so out of place with the heaviness cloaking him. His eyes veiled by his lashes and inevitably drowned by his dark circles made him look like a villain who had been torn away from one of the fiction books on another aisle. Lost in thought, reading the titles, head canted to the side, a hard pressure bombarded his leg and fell right on his feet. He crouched, sat with his knees bent as he gathered the books, yawning, as he stacked one over the other at a lethargic pace. Occasionally, he checked the materials, lips pressed in a thin line, taking a note of the titles he could perhaps browse through later. “Watch where you’re going next time…” He mumbled in monotone as he got back on his feet, hands sliding into his pocket.
